About STEM and Business Outreach

NCTA Charlotte WISE has joined The Charlotte Area Science Network (CASN) and is now STEM and Business, a network of business, government, education and non-profit organizations advocating for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by bringing opportunity, visibility, and enthusiasm to STEM careers and education through outreach, events and networking.

In response to the decline of graduates in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) across the nation, STEM and Business provides outreach into the Charlotte, NC community to stimulate new and continued interest in these very important areas. Our programs emphasize STEM and business-related topics and target middle school and high school students, as well as professionals with established careers in technology. We hope that our networking opportunities, career fairs, scholarship program and community initiatives will encourage increased involvement of students and professionals in the STEM workforce.

Through STEM and Business Outreach we connect our ideas and practices in support of other organizations and individuals.  Some of our efforts include:

• Kasie Capling Memorial Scholarship
• National Center for Women in IT Aspirations Awards
• Support of STEM education in the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County
• Support of STEM disciplines in higher education
